y artwork has always been concerned with female identity and how the expectations and pressures society imposes on the female figure affect the way in which we see ourselves. The pressure to conform to a feminine ideal and the consciousness of breaking social taboos are themes that have long driven me to create work.

I am interested in the history of female representation and stereotypes and how they compare to the depiction of women in the contemporary media.

I am intrigued by the idea of the female as a pure, expectant vessel - as a form through which things pass, a passive receptacle, a utilitarian object- and how it evokes characteristics which are inherently female.

I am also interested in the traditional portrayal of the female as an allegory of purity, chastity, fertility, temptation and vanity
