ainting
landscapes allows one to connect directly with a specific location. Through
painting plein air and observing the effects of light on the earth and
atmosphere, one faces an enormous challenge- how to capture the shimmering
interplay of light and color and convey the mood of a certain place. For
me, it has become about a direct experience with the hills and colors
of the Napa Valley; I see blues in the hills and bright, mustard yellows
in the grasses. I am intrigued by the contours of Mt. Tamalpais and the
mountain’s colorful interaction with light from different vistas.
